The Greater Princeton Branch of AYLUS (GPA) continued chess classes every Monday along with Chess Tournaments on the first Saturday every month starting in October. During class, we solved puzzles with themes such as checkmates in 3 moves and attackers and defenders. After class, there is always time to play games against each other to have the opportunity to practice the skills we have learned in class in a real game. Having learned a variety of skills, the students are improving their visualization, tactic, and position skills.
Additionally, ABC Chess has continued with another class for beginners. It occurs every Tuesday from 7-8 pm. During class, we teach basic information needed to play a game of chess such as what the pieces are called, how they move, and to how to set up a chess board. We have started by introducing the Italian Opening and explaining the moves of the opening. Curious players are enjoying learning about the fascinating game of chess.
ABC Chess will be hosting a Chess Tournament on November 7, 2020 from 2-3 pm EST
Participants: Sarah Yan (Oct. 12, 13, 19, and 20, 2 hrs each), Erick Yan (Oct. 12, 13, 19, and 20, 2 hrs each)
