AYLUS San Fernando Valley Assists Community Distribution Center Food Bank on October 17

On October 17th, 2020, the AYLUS branch of San Fernando Valley volunteered an hour and a half, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, handling, processing, and packaging food in order to help the community return home and feed their families. The members of the branch – Benjamin Kozikaro-Sanchez, Jason Xie, Marc Hua, and Logan Weinstein – maintained safety while helping the food bank in a coordinated effort to prepare enough food that people could take back home to their family and neighborhood. Our team planned and organized this event through several meetings over social media to perfect our opportunity – and scheduled a perfect date and time with the food bank through many exchanged calls.

All in all, the branch helped handle 75 whole boxes of food – 525 total bags of it (7 bags per box)! Our AYLUS branch is just beginning to focus on more directed events! Amazing job, everyone!

Special Mentions to our Project Manager, Logan Weinstein! Just recovering from a surgery, Logan continued to support us and help us make it happen! Thank you, Logan!

Participants:

Jason Xie: (1.5 hours, set-up, handling, marking, packaging, and organizing)

Marc Hua: (1.5 hours, set-up, handling, marking, packaging, and organizing)

Benjamin Kozikaro-Sanchez: (1.5 hours, set-up, handling, marking, packaging, and organizing)
