On September 7th 2020, the AYLUS branch of San Fernando Valley spent an hour and a half from 9:30 to 11:00 AM picking up trash and garbage to improve the quality of the environment and of the community. The members of the branch – Benjamin Kozikaro-Sanchez, Jason Xie, Marc Hua and Logan Weinstein – spread out and helped cleanse the community park of Shadow Ranch Park. Maintaining safety, the branch embarked on a coordinated effort to sweep the recreational area. Our team planned and organized this event through several meetings over social meeting to perfect our opportunity.
All in all, the branch picked up four bags, nearly 6 or 7 pounds of trash and plan to exponentially increase and focus on more directed activities in the future. Great job everyone!
Participants:
Jason Xie (1.5 hours, set-up, cleanup, distributing, disposing)
Benjamin Kozikaro-Sanchez (1.5 hours, set-up, cleanup, distributing, disposing)
Marc Hua (1.5 hours, set-up, cleanup, distributing, disposing)
Logan Weinstein (1.5 hours, set-up, cleanup, distributing, disposing)
Our branch has started off small with this activity, but we plan to expand into fundraisers, food drives, etc in our time at AYLUS. Again – great job everyone!
Great work, San Fernando Valley!
