AYLUS Puget Sound Completion of Summer Speech and Presentation Series

On August 24, 2020, members of the Puget Sound Branch held their Speech and Presentation Summer Sessions! These were the first speech/presentation related classes that our branch offered.

The one-day presentation class was taught by Kelly Cai and Sarah Xuan, with Sophie Xuan contributing to parts of preparation and class. Prior to class, these two instructors prepared an extensive lesson that contained key summaries from their experiences. Kelly and Sarah also each gave a short speech as examples; Kelly gave an impromptu speech, while Sarah gave a pre-prepared speech. These two speeches were of contrasting styles, purposefully planned to show two different types and ways of speeches. Prior to August 24, the two instructors also held a meeting to discuss the specifics of teaching class.

We held one morning session and one afternoon session. We had about 22 students in the morning session and about 18 students in the afternoon session. Our students came from a variety of different schools in WA and in different states in the U.S.

We got many positive feedback from our students throughout the course and at the end through our End Course Survey. We are grateful for all the support our community and students have shown us with our first speech and presentation related course. Thank you to all our students that participated in our course: we enjoyed meeting and talking with you!
