Phoenix Branch Archives Historical Documents on July 22nd, 2020

Today on July 22nd 2020, the Phoenix Branch started an archivist volunteer program to help transcribe historical documents.

Caleb Liu transcribed the Case File of Joseph Brown that describes the discharge of Joseph Brown from the US military.

Yongfeng Chen did the Correspondence Between President Harry S. Truman and Secretary of the Interior Oscar Chapman pg 3.

“I learned that Oscar Chapman was the Secretary of Interior of 1950”. 

Additionally, Yongfeng Chen also transcribed the 11926: Joseph R. Willie v. Harris County pg. 218.

“I learned that the Plaintiffs went to Sylvan Beach on May 25, 1958”.

Charisse Qin transcribed Air Force Award Cards [Air Medal]: Burnsed, Edward – Butler, Joseph and the 171-1 to 171-2 – Submarine Defense Association.

“I learned about a disk-course indicator and that it has some relation to zigzags”.

Finally, Amy Xie transcribed Air Force Award Cards [Air Medal] Cost, Arral – Cowsill, James.

I found it very interesting that this card belonged to someone and it was from 1945. In addition, I had fun learning about the history behind it”.
