San Diego Branch organized the 16th Ever Online Challenge Camp on July 11th, 2020

Reported by Eric Lin

On July 11th, San Diego Branch students hosted an online Challenge Camp tutoring program. The purpose of the activity was to allow older volunteers to tutor and teach younger students on various subjects of interest.

Due to the current circumstances, AYLUS San Diego moved their activity online, teaching the students through zoom video conferences. Due to several factors, this activity has received more volunteer participation, to a point where the entire lesson was several 1-on-1, 1-on-2, 1-on-3, and 1-on-four sessions. First, both the students and the volunteers joined a main zoom room, for attendance and a general briefing of how the activity will operate. Next, they split up into several break-out rooms and begin the lessons. At the end of the activity, everyone returned to the main zoom classroom for a final check, and to receive feedback for the new activity.

Through this event, young students were taught various subjects, including Chinese, English, Spanish, Parliamentary Debate, Public Forum Debate, Piano, Clarinet, Cello, Saxophone, Flute, Coding, and Chess

The following twenty-three volunteers participated in the 14th online Challenge Camp: Nathan Yang, Sarah Li, Ruiqi Ding, Haobin Cao, Andrew Chen, Edward Liu, Anthony Yao, Austin Pierce, Meijia He, Samuel Li, Yixiao Sun, Eric Lin, Emma Li, Jonathan Backues, Conan Wu, Anthony Jiang, Eric Li, Luke Qiao, Daniel Li, Qiyao(Alvin) Zheng, Yufei Zhang, Harry Li and Derek Ma

There was a total of 76 participants in this event.
