On July 8th, San Diego Branch students hosted an online Challenge Camp tutoring program. The purpose of the activity was to allow older volunteers to tutor and teach younger students on various subjects of interest.
Due to the current circumstances, AYLUS San Diego moved their activity online, teaching the students through zoom video conferences. Due to several factors, this activity has received more volunteer participation, to a point where the entire lesson was several 1-on-1, 1-on-2, 1-on-3, and 1-on-four sessions. First, both the students and the volunteers joined a main zoom room, for attendance and a general briefing of how the activity will operate. Next, they split up into several break-out rooms and begin the lessons. At the end of the activity, everyone returned to the main zoom classroom for a final check, and to receive feedback for the new activity.
Through this event, young students were taught various subjects, including Chinese, French, English, Spanish, Piano, Cello, Saxophone, Coding, and Chess
The following nine volunteers participated in the 14th online Challenge Camp:Andrew Chen, Nathan Yang, Kristina Wang, Conan Wu, Anthony Jiang, Luke Qiao, Daniel Li, Harry Li, and Liana Xie
There was a total of 40 participants in this event.
The AYLUS San Diego Committee organized the 15th online Challenge Camp on July 8th, 2020.
