East Cobb Branch Donates 1000 Face Masks to Cobb County Libraries

On 4/17/2020, AYLUS East Cobb donated 1000 face masks and 6 boxes of disinfectant spray to Cobb County Libraries. East Cobb AYLUS representatives, which included 3 members and 3 advisers, met with Cobb County officials (like the County Commissioner, and the heads of the Cobb County Libraries and Senior Service Centers) and gave them much needed sanitation and protection equipment. As Georgia state-owned facilities reopen, PPE and disinfectant will once again be in high demand. We were told that our donation was a “blessing” to them, as they couldn’t source their own masks. With elections coming up, workers could be in danger of catching the virus if not protected properly.

The supplies were bought with money raised from an internal fundraiser, which was held to provide pandemic relief to the community. The AYLUS representatives also broached the idea of using 3D printed face shields as protection. As our branch is currently making the shields, the officials requested some.

East Cobb AYLUS is thankful that it can contribute to its community in these times of need.
