On January 12th, 2020, members of East Cobb AYLUS created prop stars for a children’s choir’s performance at East Cobb Library’s Chinese New Year Celebration Festival.
Creating the stars was hard work, so the members split the tasks up into different sections. Some would draw star templates on the poster board, some would help the adults cut out the stars with razors, some would paint the stars yellow, and the others would put glue and glitter on the stars. At the end, the remaining members glued sticks into the stars as handgrips.
All in all, the members made about 50 complete stars, of which the 30 were chosen to use in the actual performance. The tasks were delegated based on age/experience: older members would use the knives and spread the glitter (a surprisingly difficult task) while the younger ones would paint and draw templates. The members were happy to be able to contribute to the success of the event.
Attendance: Michael Fu (1.5 hours), Kevin Shen (1.5 hours), Katherine Sha (1.5 hours), Gary Mai (1.5 hours), Jack Xu (1.5 hours), Jerry Xu (1.5 hours), Austin Wu (1.5 hours)
