Fairfax Branch – Riverbend Park – Virginia Native American Festival

On the 7th of September 2019, members of the Fairfax AYLUS branch helped Riverbend Park host their annual Virginia Native American Festival.

Each fall, Riverbend Park hosts their biggest event, the Virginia Native American Festival, which celebrates the culture and history of the first people of Virginia. The festival invites eight American Indian tribes from Virginia, who perform as dancers, drummers, and storytellers. Other activities include shooting bow and arrows, throwing spears, making stone tools, and even building a dugout canoe. Various American Indian craft, pottery, and jewelry were also on display.
