On August 24th and 25th, the AYLUS Birmingham Branch volunteered at the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, AL. On Saturday, our volunteers helped in lots of different areas, from setting up parties to counting ballots. On Sunday, all of our volunteers helped with the VR (Virtual Reality) Venue. The VR Venue was an event in which guests could partake in two different virtual reality experiences. One was Interactive and one was Cinematic. The Interactive experience allowed the players to experience a video game as if they were in it themselves. The Cinematic Experience is when guests would wear a VR headset and watch a film in 360. Our volunteers helped to this even run smoothly by keeping track of which people wanted to partake in each experience. Some of our volunteers were also Venue Assistants and Line Directors. The Sidewalk Film Festival is an annual event that occurs every year in Birmingham, AL. It is a nonprofit organization that dedicates itself to encouraging filmmaking in AL and building audiences for independent films.
