20190105 East Cobb Young Musician Holiday Performance V

On January 05, 2019, 9 members of AYLUS East Cobb Branch finished the year on a high note by performing two hours at two senior centers in East Cobb – Alto on Lecroy Drive and Sterling on Lower Roswell Road. Our group dressed up and played a selection of many classical and contemporary New Year tunes. There were more people in the audience than there was last time, making the performance even more exciting.

At Alto, the seniors had been waiting for us before we had even gotten there and were very excited at our arrival. In our last song, Happy New Year, the seniors sang along joyfully. At Sterling, the excitement that hung in the air as the seniors awaited our performance. Again, many people started to sing along when we got to Happy New Year. Just the seniors singing and clapping along made up for the little group in the audience. In the end, the some of the seniors appreciated the performance so much that they requested an encore. We agreed and brought some more content among our audience with our unexpected act. When we left, the seniors all expressed their gratitude for the branch to play music for them and hoped we would come again next time with this many musicians and bright music.

The performances included classical songs such as Little Fugue in G Minor, Paganini Caprice 14, Mozart Sonata en C-Dur K. 330., and Czardas. Other pieces included beautiful and moving piano pieces by Jack and Maxwell, and beautiful and harmonious string quartet and trio featuring Cynthia, Rachel, Asad, and Diane. We also concluded every Performance with Group Chorus featuring everyone singing New Years classic Happy New Year, accompanied on the piano by Susanna. The seniors greatly enjoyed our performances, and we hope to be able to serenade them into the next month.
