On July 3rd, the Metro Detroit Branch completed their cook for the homeless event at Grace Centers of Hope. They brought chicken, vegetables, fruit, rice, baking ingredients, and cooking utensils to prepare the food. The kids began by peeling and washing the vegetables. Then they cut up and seasoned the chicken. In the end, 40 pounds of chicken, fried rice, grilled vegetables, and fresh fruit was prepared in order to feed 100 people. After the food was prepared, the kids created a dinner menu to show what was on the menu. Lastly, plates of food were brought to the tables and distributed to the homeless. Everyone was greatly impacted by this experience, as it showed how enriching it is to help those that need it and how that there is always more than meets the eye when it comes to people. One main goal from this event was to ensure that even the homeless would have a happy independence day. The participants in this event were Ethan Chen, Daniel Kong, Elayni Liu, Spencer Liu, David Nie, Jason Nie, Forrest Yang and Andrew Zhang.
