Murrieta AYLUS Lends a Hand to The Little Garden of Hope Project (22nd & 23rd) (10/1 + 10/8/23)

Reported by Jessica Lu
On October 1st, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members helped The Little Garden of Hope.
Members first harvested all the peppers and the garlic stems. Then, members mainly focused on clearing 2 beds and preparing them for the new plants. Members got rakes and shovels and began to shovel up the previous plants occupying the beds. They threw all the plants into a pile and would clean them up later. When the veggies were cleared, members began removing all the weeds and large roots that were stuck in the soil. Finally, members began turning the soil and added fertilizer to prepare the soil. Members were proud of what they’d done and brought the fresh harvests to the office.

On October 8th, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members helped out with the Little Garden of Hope Project. The members split up the tasks, some working on watering the plants and others tending to the plants. They decided to clear the tomato bed and till the soil to prepare it for new seeds on their next visit. Afterwards, the members weeded each of the beds before planting a couple of rows of carrot seeds into an empty bed they had prepared last time.
