With a great success of session 1 and session 2,the Summertime STEM Camp 2023, organized by the Summertime STEM club and AYLUS San Diego Branch, held the 3rd session from July 31 to August 4, 2023. The camp aimed to provide elementary school students from grades 1 to 6 with an engaging learning experience in lesser-taught STEM subjects. With a duration of 2 hours per day, the camp offered a comprehensive curriculum that covered a range of topics, including forensics, chemistry, biology, structural engineering, and physics.

The primary objective of Summertime STEM, much like the goal of Dr. Kamau Bobb, was to introduce young learners to the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, fostering their interest and curiosity in these fields. By focusing on subjects not commonly covered in standard elementary school curricula, the camp aimed to expose the students to diverse STEM disciplines and expand their knowledge beyond the basics.

Throughout the camp, a dedicated team of high school volunteers served as instructors, sharing their expertise and passion for STEM with the eager participants. Each day, the students engaged in hands-on activities, experiments, and discussions that allowed them to explore and comprehend the principles and concepts behind forensics, chemistry, biology, structural engineering, and physics. The camp curriculum was designed to be interactive and engaging, promoting a dynamic learning environment where students could actively participate and apply their knowledge.

Day 1: Chemistry

Day 2: Biology

Day 3: Environmental Science

Day 4: Thermodynamics

Day 5: Rocketry

The Summertime STEM camp successfully attracted a total of 20 students, providing them with the opportunity to delve into the wonders of STEM in a fun and supportive atmosphere. The camp’s small student-to-instructor ratio allowed for personalized attention and tailored guidance, ensuring that each student’s individual needs were met.

Both students and parents are very happy about this fun and educational camp. We received a lot of positive feedbacks.
