AYLUS Houston Celebrates the Fourth of July with a Bubble Tea Fundraiser

This past Fourth of July, AYLUS Houston members worked to raise funds for local nonprofit organizations that work with children with special needs. Despite initial setbacks with the establishment of an AYLUS stand at a local celebration due to changing vendor rules, members and advisors were able to quickly adjust and reach out to the community in a more direct way. Using the signs that members had made in anticipation of the fundraiser, members established themselves in a local park to sell bubble tea to local members, rallying friends and family to support AYLUS in their cause. Members went as far as to take the initiative to walk to local neighborhoods they were familiar with to directly advocate for their cause and encourage community-wide participation. The bubble tea was supplied by a local business and was kept fresh in two large coolers that members carried and pulled to sell. A final profit of over $200 was the sweet reward for a hard day of volunteering, but it was completely worth it when knowing what the work was for!
