Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Senior Center (15th) (7/2/2023)

Reported by Adora Xiao & Jessica Lu :

On Sunday July 2, Murrieta AYLUS members assisted at their local senior centers: the Torrey Pines Living senior center.

At the Torrey Pines Living senior center: they started with some exercise and stretched, stretching out muscles and joints. They then began with a few rounds of faux volleyball, while preparing cups of water and cranberry juice. They encouraged the residents to drink and hydrate, allowing the residents to recover and refresh themselves. After, they did some light reading with the daily chronicle, before taking the residents outside. After taking the residents on walks around the courtyard, they bid the residents goodbye before lunch.

At Atria Park of Vintage Hills, Murrieta AYLUS members went to their local senior center to help. Members were moved to help at the main building. Members were led to the ice cream parlor and it was pretty straightforward from there. Members would greet the people that came in, give them their ice cream, and add toppings if needed. One of the seniors that came in wanted to show members a magic card trick! Each member had their turn watching the trick and afterwards, members themselves got a treat. Then, they went to the library and prepared it for art meditation. There, members decided to entertain the seniors with some music. They played duets, Disney songs, and members even sang and danced! To end, one of the members improvised a piano solo!
