Chapel Hill Branch Volunteers Jordan Lake Clean Up on Dec 11th, 2022

Did you know that US roadways accumulate over 51 billion pieces of litter each year? On December 11th, 2022, the AYLUS Chapel-Hill branch teamed up with Clean Jordon Lake to help tackle this problem. Clean Jordon Lake is a nonprofit organization that helps ensure that the 300,000 residents who depend on Jordon Lake have access to clean and safe water. We started the clean-up on the side of the road and collected everything from beer bottles to lighters. After making our way to the shoreline, we began walking back and checked for anything we missed. All collected items were properly disposed. Had they not, they may have ended up causing health and safety risks for the animals and humans who live there. We hope that our efforts oils have helped prevent this from happening.

Volunteers who participated in this event: Ethan Li (2.5 hours),  Nicholas Wang (2.5 hours), Matthew Guo (2.5 hours), Alice Cheng (2.5 hours), Alan Cheng (2.5 hours), Kevin Hu (2.5 hours), Vivian Zhang (2.5 hours), and Andrew Ye (2.5 hours)
