San Diego Branch Hosted the Solution for Hope Tutoring Class on October 30, 2022

Coop with Foodbank, the AYLUS San Diego Committee kicked off the 2022-2023 Solution for Hope on-line classes for raising fund to underprivileges families. The Tutoring Class Activity was kicked off on October 30, 2022.

The goal of tutoring classes is to help ESL students in the local area to quickly grow accustomed to communicating in English and get needed help for their schoolwork. In order to help them conquer their language problems, we’re hosting this event to have volunteers help the ESL students. The lessons will be flexible times based on the schedules of volunteers and students and be conducted on zoom. We hope that with this event we can help these ESL students adapt to their new surroundings and gain confidence!

Through this activity, AYLUS volunteers were able to teach 2 ESL students a wide array of topics and led them through many different discussions, each one tailored to suit the student’s individual needs. Each class is a one-on-one private lesson, with volunteers specifically matched with students.

Joyce Lin taught 1 on 1 English (Angela Li) for 1.5 hrs on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Serena Liu taught 1 on 1 math (Kate Liang) for 1.5 hrs on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Andrew Chen taught 1 on 1 biology (John Zou) for 1.5 hrs on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Kyle Huo taught 1 on 1 math (Barry Zou) for 1.5 hrs on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Colin Xie taught 1 on 1 math (Enke Luo) for 1.5 hrs on Saturday, October 30, 2022.

Eric Li (FP) taught 1 on 1 math (Jessica Jiang) for 1 hr on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
