Reported by: Yicheng Liu

Project Butterfly is a program dedicated to building libraries in Uganda, East Africa. This book donation event aims to collect used books and build 4-5 libraries for K-8 students in Africa. To express endorsement of their actions, the AYLUS San Diego Committee organized a book donation event on October 22, 2022.

The donated books were collected by our volunteers from their own families and local schools across San Diego. By donating books, AYLUS hopes to make literature and knowledge accessible to all. With this book donation event, we also want to call out to our community regarding the importance of education, especially to those less fortunate than us.

A total of 3000 books are collected before all were donated to this project, and 5 libraries will be established in Uganda this year.

AYLUS Members that participated this event (2.0 Volunteer hours for each) were:

Yicheng Liu, Enze Luo, Enke Luo, Andrew Chen, Steven Xiao, Bruce Xiao, Kevin Kan, Luke Qiao, Angela Li, liuqing chen.
