On Sept.3rd, 2022 West Essex AYLUS members invited special needs children to a community trip to AMC East Hanover 12 movie theater in East Hanover, NJ. Members selected a kid friendly cartoon movie, DC League of Super Pets. Since some of the participating children has never been a movie theater before, members arrived early to help them get familiar and comfortable of the set up in the movie theater. Members promoted participating kids to order their own snacks, and helped them get food and drink from the pickup area. While watching movie, members reminded the kids about unique rules to follow while at the movie theater.
Participating as an audience member in entertainment events like a theatre develops critical thinking, self-esteem, self discipline, risk taking, empathy, and other life skills.
