AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Books For Development on August 20, 2022

The AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at Books For Development on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

 

Books for Development is an NPO (Non-Profit Organization) located in Houston, TX, and their main goal is to help increase the literacy rate in countries around the world. Through book donations, Books for Development is able to move one step closer to achieving their goal. Books for Development ship their books out to countries such as Uganda, Kenya, and Mexico; they also ship their books out to places around the USA such as the Harris County Jail. In total, Books for Development has been responsible for the creation of more than 400 libraries around the world.

 

Volunteers unboxed packages full of books and sorted them by the category the book belongs to. After sorting through the books, volunteers helped put the sorted books into boxes which were later put onto a pallet.

 

The following volunteers attended this event (3 hours): Alexander Tang, Megan Wang, Danica Du, Ellen Dai, Eric Li, Victoria Wang, Justine Lan, Daniel Chan, Ethan Liu, Bob Feng, Betty Feng, Isabel Li, and Zoey Dou.
