San Diego Branch Organized Computer for Kids Lab Volunteer Service Activity on August 2, 2022

On August 2, 2022, students from the San Diego Branch of AYLUS organized and participated in Computer for Kids Lab volunteer event for 2.5 hours, repairing and cleaning electronic devices in order to prepare them to send to children of low-income families. This helps the kids achieve academic success through possible access to technology.

The participants did the following:

  • 60 – Monitors assembled with Stands
  • 34 – Monitors Cleaned & Tested

So far, the San Diego branch students have accomplished the following since the first Computer for Kids Lab of 2020:

  • Diagnosed, repaired, tested, or sleeved 6,497 notebooks/netbooks/laptops/tablets/desktops
  • Cleaned out, or prepared 790 desktop computers for refurbishing
  • Tested/repaired/mounted 743 LCD monitors
  • Removed RAM from 890 computers
  • Diagnosed, tested, wiped, counted, removed and cloned 9,057 hard drives
  • Wrapped, folded, sorted, and packed 23,019 mice/keyboards/power cords/adapters/batteries/etc.
  • Tested and Bagged 156 Speakers
  • Removed 104 Optical Drives/CD Drives
  • Removed 275 Motherboards/Processors

The following members participated in the Computer for Kids Lab volunteer activity, 2.5 hours for following each person: Rebecca Lin, Joshua Lin, Jonathan Wu, Eric Li, and Angela Li.
