Bellaire Branch Welcomed Visitors to International Mud Day at the Nature Discovery Center on June 25, 2022

On June 25, 2022, AYLUS Bellaire branch members volunteered at the Nature Discovery Center again to celebrate International Mud Day from 9 am to 2 pm and enjoyed a morning of mud-luscious fun together with the Bellaire community visitors.

Volunteers helped move wheelbarrows filled with dirt they sifted yesterday to the nature play area. They set up different play stations such as the mud pools, mud painting, and the mud kitchen. Volunteers then welcomed children and their caregivers to the event and showed them the different activities available. They engaged children to wallow in the mud, stomp in it, paint with it, build with it, and even make mud pies. Volunteers also helped hose people down to clean the mud after the fun. In addition, volunteers
sifted more dirt in preparation for next day’s mud day classes. At the end of the event, volunteers helped to break down the stations and clean up the area. Volunteers had a muddy great time at this one-of-a-kind volunteer opportunity despite a hot summer day.

The following members attended this event in two shifts:

9am-12pm, 3 hours: Miranda Wang, Justin Wang, Valerie Yu, Lucas Wang, Victoria Wang.

11:30-2pm, 2.5 hours: Isabel Li.
