The AYLUS Bellaire branch volunteered at Books Between Kids in Houston, Texas on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 9:00am – 11:00am.

Books Between Kids is a non-profit organization that serves to provide low-income families in Houston with books to improve children’s literacy rates. They have distributed 2 million books to more than 500,000 children throughout Greater Houston during its 9 years of operation. The volunteers today counted book donations, organized books by age groups, sorted books into different categories, and packed books into boxes for later distribution to Book Celebrations program held at partner elementary schools and other community partner programs.

The onsite manager had high praise for the AYLUS Bellaire volunteers, and the Bellaire branch is considering holding a book drive for Books Between Kids in the future.

Nine volunteers participated in the event (2 hours): Helena Wang (project leader), Miranda Wang, Alexander Tang, Angelina Hoang, Justin Wang, Megan Wang, Andrew Liu, Eric Li, and Alan Du.
