Columbus Branch Hosted High School EC Seminar on Mock Trial on April 17th, 2022

On Sunday, April 17th, the AYLUS-Columbus branch held a high school mock trial seminar. Branch member Erica Shen, a senior from the Dublin Jerome High School, was the presenter. Using the slide deck she meticulously prepared, Erica introduced what the high school mock trial is, discussed her experience with the club and what she has learned, and shared her tips on how to succeed in the mock trial. It was well attended and received by the audience, including middle school students, high school lower classmen, and their parents. Questions and lively discussions also filled the Q/A session following the presentation. Brenna Li worked closely with Erica, prepared the event flyers, and hosted the seminar, opening the presentation, introducing Erica Shen, organizing the Q/A session, and wrapping up the zoom meeting. Branch members Rachel Zhu, Katie Lu, Evan Yu, and Emma Yu also attended the seminar.

This presentation is part of the seminar series organized by AYLUS-Columbus and AYLUS-Chapel Hill collaboratively. The aim of this presentation series is to introduce basic information and personal experience of some of the most common high school EC activities or clubs to younger students to help them transition smoothly to and succeed in high school and enhance their overall high school experience. This workshop is the 3rd in this series. Future workshops on speech and debate, math and computer competitions, music and theatre activities, and overall high school experiences will occur throughout the school year and the summer.
