On the afternoon of March 26th, 2022, the AYLUS San Diego branch volunteered at the San Diego Food Bank in a mission to provide a meal for everyone, regardless of social standing. The Jacob and Cushman San Diego Food Bank and the North County Food Bank chapter comprise the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 63 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average, 550,000 people per month in San Diego County. According to the Food Bank, about 80% of the work done in their warehouses comes from volunteer service. Without willing participants, the Food Bank could not hope to accomplish what it has done these past few years.
Recognizing the food bank’s need for help, AYLUS San Diego volunteers stepped in to help fight food insecurity. Starting from making a difference in their local community, our volunteers look to make individual contributions to tackle this widespread problem.
Volunteering at the Jacob and Cushman San Diego Food Bank on the afternoon of March 26th, AYLUS San Diego volunteers strove to make a difference through repackaging canned food, distributing relief food items, and helping out around the warehouse.
