Riverside County AYLUS Raises Funds for UNICEF to Combat World Hunger on March 18th and 19th, 2022 (1st)

On March 18th and 19th, 2022 RSA members created their first event to support UNICEF.

As the world has fallen into uncertain times and as different parts of the world are experiencing extreme hunger due to food shortages because of war and drought such as this is the case in Somalia or Ukraine, RSA decided to do something about it and raise funds to help combat it. Children in this world should not have to face hunger and starvation.

The event was planned to take place over 2 days. On March 18th several members baked several trays of cookies and wrapped them into cellophane bags. On the morning of March 19th, the group got together to hold a neighborhood garage sale where RSA members contributed with their own donated items. This also included several boxes of freshly picked lemons and oranges. The garage sale was advertised on social media. In total, the group raised $180 for UNICEF.

Even if $180 does not seem that much, this money was raised with conviction and a desire to help those in need. Thus RSA will evaluate how to improve the fundraising efforts in the future to be able to continue to raise money for causes worth supporting.
