On Friday, February 11th, volunteers from the Columbus AYLUS branch performed in the Dublin Jerome High School Lunar New Year celebration. During all three of Jerome’s lunch periods, a short performance that included a martial arts demonstration and a fashion show took place.AYLUS member Katie Lu was featured in the martial arts demonstration along with two other Jerome students. AYLUS members Andrea Yu, Rachel Zhu, Sitan Gao, Emma Yu, Brenna Li, Catherine Harman, Olivia Wang, Eric Zheng, Jeffrey Xie, Sophie Zhuang, and Caroline Xi walked in the fashion show. Volunteers wore a variety of traditional East Asian clothing, such as hanfu, qipao, and traditional jackets.The Lunar New Year performance was a huge hit among Jerome students and staff alike, and AYLUS volunteers were instrumental in its success. Their hard work and energy was greatly commended and appreciated, especially since many members who participated in the performance attended an additional rehearsal the day before and even helped run stands when they were not performing.The Jerome Lunar New Year celebration aims to become an annual fixture of the Dublin Jerome community. Hopefully, our AYLUS volunteers will continue to be there at every step of the way for years to come.Reported by Andrea Yu
