Chapel Hill Branch Volunteers at Porch Food Drives on Jan 9, 2022

If you were in Chapel Hill, NC, you might notice that there are many “PORCH” signs on the sides of the streets. PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro is our local food drive to alleviate hunger and promote better nutrition for families in need in our community. Five Chapel Hill branch members volunteered at PORCH to help sort and pack hundreds of bags of non-perishable food on January 9, 2022.

Their high work efficiency was praised by Carol, the sort coordinator of PORCH. She admired how AYLUS volunteers went right to work and really helped! During the event, we learned that PORCH began as a small neighborhood food drive in 2010, but it now hosts monthly food drives in over 160 neighborhoods. Every mission is accomplished in small steps, and it’s amazing what we as a community can achieve if each of us steps up. Our AYLUS Chapel Hill branch will continue to work with PORCH to make our community a better place to live!

The volunteers that participated in the event: Kevin Chen (2 hours), Luna Chen (2 hours), Jack Xu (2 hours), Andrew Xu (2 hours), Nicholas Wang (2 hours)
