AYLUS Pearland Summer Arts and Craft Lessons – July and August

AYLUS Pearland members started teaching elementary and middle school students art at the beginning of the summer. In July and August 2021, AYLUS Pearland continued to organize virtual arts and craft classes through Zoom. Each week, teachers offered classes on Monday and Saturday from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. In June, students had the option to attend in-person classes. However, due to the rising cases of COVID-19, all classes were moved back online. In total there were 12 classes (6/14/21, 6/21/21, 6/26/21, 6/28/21, 7/12/21, 7/17/21, 7/19/21, 7/24/21, 7/26/21, 7/31/21, 8/2/21, 8/9/21) and 20 students that attended.

This summer, students were able to experiment with a plethora of mediums and styles of art. For example, students had lessons where they could draw reference pictures with mediums, such as pen and ink, sketch pencils, and colored pencils. Additionally, they were given the opportunity to make interesting crafts such as origami and snowflakes. Furthermore, teachers organized various art games that the students could play over the course of the summer. These activities let students interact with each other and relax their minds.

Overall, the AYLUS Summer Arts and Craft classes were exceptionally successful and students showed immense growth in their art skills at the end of the summer.
