Greater Temecula Valley AYLUS Hosts a Recycling to Help Animals Event in June 2021

On June 13th, 2021, the Greater Temecula Valley AYLUS (GTVA) hosts a recycling to help animals event by collecting empty recyclable bottles and cans from our families and friends. All the proceeds are going to the local animal shelter- Animal Friends of the Valleys to help those abandoned pets.

GTVA team Ally Negulescu (2.5 hrs), Adora Xiao (2 hrs), Julie Lu (1.5 hrs), Jessica (1.5 hrs), and Tonya Liu (1.5 hrs) met at the Go Green Murrieta Recycling Center in the morning and turned in few bags of the recycling items. During last week, we’ve been collecting, sorting, and storing bottles and cans for today’s event. The students unloaded the bags from the cars, use the knowledge they learned couple of days ago from our Zoom meeting to separate the items into different containers. Later they lined up at the scale area to weight what we collected and get paid.

We all wearing the eye catching AYLUS t shirts and did it with so much enthusiasm that one of the customers decided to donate his recycling items to our “Recycling to Help Animals” project. It’s awesome to see that we already getting noticed in the community. Several customers asked what organization are we part of, and congratulated us for what we are doing. Today we collected total of $68.57 that will be donated to our local animal shelter- Animal Friends of the Valleys.

It feels so good to be able to walk in at the shelter next week with good thoughts and hard cash. The event was a success and we are sure that we’ll do it again in the future.
