On June 23rd, 2020, AYLUS Pearland Vice President Andy Jiang represented AYLUS Pearland at Project Rise and Shine’s Collaborative Meeting. In the meeting Andy Jiang introduced AYLUS’ mission and vision, along with its history and recent events. At the end of June, Project Rise and Shine invited AYLUS Pearland to become one of the ten partners for 2020-2021.
“Project Rise and Shine is sponsored by the Hogg Foundation. This project is led by the Light and Salt Association and invites ten organizations from Asian American communities” (https://www.riseandshine-lsa.org/). “This project will focus on the development needs of Asian American adolescents and develop prevention plans and policies. It is hoped that by making full use of the community’s organizational system and resources, it can actively promote the development of adolescents’ mental health and the realization of personal value.”
AYLUS Pearland is built on the fundamental belief of youth uniting for a common good. AYLUS promotes participating in community service, as it builds self-esteem, character, compassion, and healthy relationships. Thus, AYLUS Pearland brings value to the project by promoting youth mental health via organizing volunteering events.
As a partner, AYLUS Pearland receives annual budget funding for its events. AYLUS President Andy Gu and Vice President Andy Jiang organized a list of events for fiscal year 2020-2021 based on the requirements of Project Rise and Shine (shown below) and the budget has been approved.
