Columbus Branch Received Second Place Grant Through COVID-19 Relief Program

In June, a AYLUS Columbus Branch member,  Aidan Li’s proposal titled “Homemade COVID-19 preventive measure for local communities: an initiative from a student-lead volunteer group, AYLUS-Columbus” received a second prize grant from the Chinese American Pathologist Association (CAPA) through its COVID-19 relief program. With this grant, AYLUS Columbus plans to create 300 goody bags, each consisting of DIY cloth masks, DIY WHO-recommended handrub formulation, a COVID-19 informational pamphlet, and a COVID-19 word search. The pamphlet and the word search will be designed by the branch based on official information on CDC.

These goody bags will be donated to KIDSmile, a nonprofit pediatric dental clinic, Central Ohio Transit Authority, and Sawmill Dental Care, which primarily serve at-risk, low-income communities. Some additional handrubs may also be donated together with the clinical goody bags.
