San Diego Branch Hosted the Second Online Challenge Camp Program on April 18th 2020

Reported by Samuel Li

On April 18th, San Diego Branch students hosted the second ever online Challenge Camp tutoring program. The purpose of the activity was to allow older volunteers to tutor and teach younger students on various subjects of interest.

Due to the current circumstances, AYLUS San Diego moved their activity online, teaching the students through zoom video conferences. Due to several factors, this activity has received more volunteer participation, to a point where the entire lesson was several 1-on-1, 1-on-2, 1-on-3, and 1-on-four sessions. First, both the students and the volunteers joined a main zoom room, for attendance and a general briefing of how the activity will operate. Next, they split up into several break-out rooms and begin the lessons. At the end of the activity, everyone returned to the main zoom classroom for a final check, and to receive feedback for the new activity.

Through this event, young students were taught various subjects, including Chinese, Spanish, English, Saxophone, Piano, Cello, Clarinet, Chess, Math, History and Art.

The following volunteers participated in the 2nd online Challenge Camp: Nathan Yang, Anny Wang, Luke Qiao, Anthony Yao, Edward Liu, Victor Ku, Claire Jiang, Eric Lin, Jonathan Backues, Eric Li, Conan Wu, Anthony Jiang, Haobin Cao, Harry Li, Emma Li, Derek Ma, and Liana Xie

The AYLUS San Diego Committee organized the 2nd Challenge Camp on April 18th, 2020.
