Phoenix Branch Delivers Cards and KN95 Masks to Hospitals and Senior Living Centers for COVID-19 on April 3, 2020

Last Friday, April 3, 2020, the Phoenix Branch delivered handwritten cards and over 700 KN95 masks that they ordered with money from earlier fundraisers to local hospitals and senior living centers, including HonorHealth Thompson Peak Medical Center, Hospice: The Enclave at Gilbert Senior Living, St. Joseph Hospital, Chandler Regional Hospital, and Mercy Gilbert Regional Hospital. At each location, precautions were taken to minimize the chances of the spread of any disease, such as wearing face masks and not entering the physical buildings to reduce patient exposure as well as using hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol before and after each delivery. Even though the deliveries were carried out over a short time to keep both volunteers and workers safe, this event took multiple weeks of advance planning, which included ordering masks, coordinating with hospitals, and having members write cards to medical personnel and senior citizens. The members that participated in the deliveries were Katherine Wei, Ethan Wei, and Michael Chen, and the members that made cards also included Michael Chen, Marie Chen, Richard Cheng, Amy Xie, Wenting Chen, and Yongfeng Chen as well.
