Chapel Hill Branch Performed at Senior Living Center on May 18, 2019

On Saturday May 18th, the AYLUS members visited Brookdale Meadowmont Retirement home. The theme of the visit was “The Sound of Music.” One of the seniors remembered this and was happy to hear the songs that were to come. Grace started off playing the prelude. “The Sound of Music” which everyone sang along to. Many of the seniors enjoyed singing the lyrics of this very upbeat tune. Then, Audrey played a part of the song “Maria” the seniors enjoyed listening to the story of what the song was about. Audrey then played “My Favorite Things” which was a very catchy and upbeat tune which the seniors enjoyed. Afterward, Kitta and Grace played “Do-Ray-Mi” the guitar and the piano was a nice mix and made the song sound great. Then Melissa and Grace played “Edelweiss” together which the seniors loved singing along to. The seniors wanted to listen to multiple of those songs again. Soon Grace started to play a piece that reminded her of the love story between Maria and the Captain, it was a very beautiful song. The last song that was played was the song “Do-Ray-Mi” which the seniors loved listening to again. It was a great way to end the performance.
