Today, we had yet another heartwarming experience with the seniors at Brookdale retirement home. Throughout the hour, we performed a variety of songs for their enjoyment, from classical music to soothing hymns. According to their requests from our previous visit, we played You Are My Sunshine, Oh Chanukah, and In the Garden, traditional songs that they were more familiar with and therefore seemed to enjoy. The seniors sang especially enthusiastically during You Are My Sunshine. This visit, we also brought a tambourine for them to play in accompaniment with our instruments, an addition that allowed the seniors to be more involved in the music making process. The additional percussion, along with our festive singing, made for a lively night of music, and we are all encouraged to make our next visit just as jubilant.
