AYLUS Pearland Elects New 2018-2019 Officers!

Written by Kevin Chen

Since September of 2015, AYLUS Pearland has led over 60 different service events for its community and beyond. From volunteering with organizations like Pearland Parks and Rec, and Hike for Mental Health to fundraising and coaching summer sports lessons, we all were impressed and even surprised by how much AYLUS had grown. Originally holding modest hopes for the future and harboring some reservations about keeping the organization operational, AYLUS Pearland now is one of the most active branches in AYLUS and has earned multiple recognitions within AYLUS and in Pearland by notable public figures and volunteer organizations.

With most of the founders graduating and moving on into college, AYLUS decided to host its first ever officer elections for the 2018-2019 year. Although the first round of leaders set the expectations for the incoming officers, we wholehearted believe that they – along with future aspiring AYLUS members – can run and conduct volunteer events even more smoothly than before.

One of our greatest visions for this organization is to empower our youth community to be leaders and to learn about the satisfaction of service above self. We hope that our officers and members will learn the lesson that being a part of this organization is not just for the sake of a title or for fulfilling volunteer hours; but rather to seek and experience the beautiful, subtle moments that shine when someone’s heart has been moved.

Once again, we would like to thank everyone for their vested support in helping grow this organization. We hope to see our members achieve great successes in their futures!

Sincerely,
Kevin Chen

Our new 2018-2019 leaders of AYLUS are: Tony Liu – President, Jerry Gu & Vincent Yang – VP, Benjamin Liang – Secretary, Andy Gu – Treasurer, Karen Lu – Public Relations, Hans Wang – Historian, Ethan Chen & Janie Chen & Katherine Zhang & Terry Guo & Andy Jiang & Kate Liu – Representatives.
