San Diego Students Held Fundraising Campaign for Children Impacted by Harvey Flood All Day on September 17, 2017 (Day 7)

From 9:00AM to 7:00PM on Sunday, September 17, 2017, more than 40 students participated in a fundraising campaign for Houston children impacted by Hurricane Harvey and the flooding afterwards. The students were divided into 10 shifts and each shift had 4 students. The students talked to customers who shopped at the Carmel Mountain RALPH grocery store located at 11875 Carmel Mountain Rd, San Diego, CA 92128.

Among the $297.67 donations that the students collected, there were 55 $1 bills and 14 $5 bills.

Mike Wang, a 9th grader at Torrey Pines High School and William Lai, a student at Carmel Valley Middle School, each worked for more than 5 shifts.

One student said she received more NOs on that day than all the NOs she got from her life.

The San Diego students solicited donations from RALHP customers, out of their love for the children of Houston who lost their homes from Hurricane Garvey and the floods that followed.
