On September 3rd, 2016, the AYLUS Pearland branch hosted a fundraising event (garage sale) for the GT Academy at the Pearland Junior High West. Over the course of 5 weeks, volunteers worked hard to collect, categorize, and mark the prices of hundreds of items. Items in the garage sale were donated by the AYLUS families and Pearland GT Academy families. The 5-hour garage sale was a success, with nearly $400 being raised and donated to the GT Academy’s math/science club. This fund will be used to support the students’ expenses during math/science competitions. The student and parent volunteers were very encouraged by the income generated from the fundraising, and look forward to organizing similar events in the future to help their community.
Upon receiving the donations, the GTA expressed their profound thanks towards AYLUS for making the effort to better their math/science program. Many teachers were delighted to be reunited with the former students and under the occasion of this fortunate event. Mrs. Bill, the GTA coordinator, and our hardworking students were especially pleased with the joint effort.
