Candidate Requirements and Branch Quotas:

  1. All leaders (or members received special invitation) from each branch are welcome to run for headquarters’ leadership and committee chair positions. Each candidate should fill out and submit the “AYLUS Leadership Application Form” before the application deadline of June 30 and send it to aylfus@gmail.com. Applications must include the candidate’s name, phone number, email, branch name and current position, as well as the positions being applied for at headquarters (first choice and second choice), grade level for the upcoming fall, and a short essay (maximum 350 words). The essay topics are: vision, leadership experience, and volunteer & extracurricular activity achievements.
  2. AYLUS headquarters leadership positions include President (2 people), Vice President (3 people), Secretary (1 person), Chief Philanthropy Officer (3 people), and Members (several), as well as several Project Committee Chairs.
  3. Each branch can recommend up to two branch leaders to run for President, Vice President, Secretary, Chief Philanthropy Officer, and Leadership Team Member. There is no restriction for the Project Committee Chair position.
  4. A member can run for up to two positions but can only hold one position.
  5. Candidates must meet the following conditions (unless received special invitation):
    1. Received a PVSA award in the past year
    2. Have experience in planning and executing branch or school activities
    3. Willing to challenge themselves

 

Election Method:

  1. The headquarters leadership team, including the President, Vice President, Secretary, Chief Philanthropy Officer, and Leadership Team Members, will be elected in two rounds.
  2. In the first round, the advisory group selects the headquarters team, and branch advisors vote in the WeChat advisory group.
  3. In the second round, the Board of Directors will make final decision based on the voting results.
  4. The applications for the Project Committee Chairs will be reviewed and approved directly by the Board of Directors.
  5. To encourage active participation in leadership and community activities, branches which have been inactive within 12 months before the voting date are not eligible to vote. Branches which have been newly established for less than 3 months are not eligible to vote and students from these branches are also not eligible to run for the headquarters leadership team positions.

 

Headquarters Leadership Responsibilities:

  1. During their term, the President and Vice President will jointly initiate and organize at least one national charity event, with support from the leadership team.
  2. The President and Vice President will organize team members to actively assist in activities of the new branches.
  3. The Secretary will coordinate team members to update website content and manage social media (such as FB) accounts.
  4. Each Chief Philanthropy Officer will lead the launch of at least one fundraising campaign with support from the leadership team.
  5. Each Project Committee Chair will initiate at least one activity.

 

Announcement Method:

  1. After the election, the new headquarters leadership team and project committee chairs will be announced on the AYLUS website.
  2. Headquarters leaders and committee chairs who do not organize any activities within six months of their appointment will automatically resign and be removed from the website.
