AYLUS Manhasset works on Community Garden for Climate Week Sept 20-26, 2021

During the week of 9/20- 9/26, AYLUS Manhasset held events help the environment and bring awareness to climate change. Members came to tend to the community garden and harvest plants.

Members went to harvest sunflowers to dry the sunflower seeds. Since there were bees, they were allowed to gather the pollen they needed. Afterwards, one of the parents brought more seeds to plant and everyone received a lesson on plants and how to plant the variety of seeds.

There was also an event where some members also went to check on the composting project and spent some time tending and weeding to the garden nearby. Decaying fruit and weeds were mixed into the composting bin (prevent methane of peaches from being released into atmosphere).

The members that participated were Loretta Liu (2 hrs), Matthew Yang (2 hrs), Gavin Cao (2hrs), William (2 hrs), Joanna Yang (2 hrs) and Alex(2 hrs)
