AYLUS Puget Sound Completion of High School Algebra Class

Starting from preparation in November 2020 to the final class on May 8, 2021, members of AYLUS Puget Sound organized and taught the 2020-2021 High School Algebra Course! This course consisted of nineteen classes, covering a variety of topics related to high-school level algebra.

This content class was taught and prepared collaboratively by Cecilia Sun, Sarah Xuan, and Sophie Xuan. In each class, we presented a combination of concept explanations, example questions, formula derivations and proofs, and extensions beyond the high-school curriculum. Each class is also followed with a practice set and corresponding solutions, both written and/or organized by our instructors.

In the first half of our course we covered the topics of : introduction to algebra, linear equations, systems of equations, proportions and rates, functions, introduction to inequalities, quadratic, conic sections, exponentials and logarithms, basics of complex numbers, and arithmetic, geometric, and arithmetic-geometric series. In the second half of our course, we covered the topics of polynomials, rational functions, mathematical induction, and basic trigonometry. Our final class was held on May 8th, and within the next two weeks, instructors will be wrapping final logistics and documents to successfully draw an end to this course. The 2020-2021 High School Algebra Class was our longest and most intensive project yet, and we greatly appreciate all the students who have persevered through all these hard concepts with us. We hope to see you guys again in summer, where we will return with new projects!
