Can you believe it is almost the end of the 2020-2021 school year? Raritan Valley Branch volunteers have been conducting the Overseas Spoken English Tutoring project from summer through fall and winter now entering the spring season of 2021. Time has flown by. What has stayed unchanged is our volunteers’ motivation to help others. No matter if it is spring break time or busy AP exam preparation time, they were always there for the tutoring sessions and well prepared. Some students have been following our volunteers’ tutoring since summer of 2020 when the project was first launched. Moments such as seeing the younger students start to use phonics skills to sound out new words or hearing the authentic American English accent emerge here and there in students’ conversations have made our day and inspired us to keep going. To maintain high-quality lessons that the students deserve is our goal. Our volunteers’ dedication to this goal has gotten us to where our branch is today and will lead us further in the future.
