In cooperation with students from Yorktown High School (Arlington, Virginia), AYLUS-Syosset members John Thach and Sebastian Olmsted taught a presentation about the Vietnamese language. This presentation covered the linguistic origins of the Vietnamese language, its history, written tradition, outside influences, grammar, and phonology. A short teaching period followed the main lecture, where the audience was encouraged to learn some basic Vietnamese phrases.
This event was planned in response to the recent increase in hate crimes targeted towards the AAPI community. This series of various presentations aimed at promoting and informing people on Vietnamese culture to combat ignorance.
Participants included: John Thach (1 Hour), Sebastian Olmsted (1 hour.)
