Rancho Santa Margarita Branch Donates Homemade Stocking Blankets to Newborns at Saddleback Hospital

The Rancho Santa Branch, from December 4 to December 10, 2020, made stocking blankets for newborns in honor of their first Christmas’. Using colorful, winter-themed fabrics, the team was able to craft and distribute the blankets in a safe and efficient manner.

To begin, Katie purchased the fabrics from Joann Fabrics, ranging from snowflakes to reindeer. The materials were then distributed to Allison and Ethan who cut them into the shapes of stockings with a cardboard template as well as measured the white fur trim. After cutting them into their proper shapes, Diana and Steven came and distributed them to each member’s house for decoration. Each member was to sew the fabric together, add on the trim, as well as add any messages or designs they desired. Some embroidered holiday messages or even drew winter symbols. Diana then recollected the now finished stockings and Katie finally donated them to Saddleback Hospital.

The members were beyond delighted to see their blankets in use and the joy they brought. The craft was not only a chance for many to express their artistic abilities, but also help those during the season of giving.
