On September 26, 2020, four volunteers from AYLUS participated in a 2020 Census text banking session with CPACS (the Center for Pan Asian Community Services). The 2020 Census is filled by citizens because the results are used to direct federal funds to communities to support schools, roads, and other public services. The results will also be used to determine the number of seats each state has in Congress.
The volunteers sent out thousands of messages to remind people to fill out the 2020 Census and answered questions from the text recipients. Even though the session was conducted online, the volunteers enjoyed socializing with other volunteers and learning more about CPACS as well as the Census itself.
