As part of the series of donations to our local communities in the face of the increase in Covid cases since the reopening, EastCobb Branch member Nicholas Vincent searched for local non-for-profit health organizations for collaboration and came across GCMI (https://gcmiatl.com/about-gcmi/), a medical technology incubator in GaTech. GCMI was receiving corporate sponsorship and was able to produce the self-designed 3D face shields at a mass production scale and has been distributing the PPE across the country.
He reached out to the county public health agency – Cobb-Douglas Public Health and found out they are in constant need of those PPE to support the extensive public health professionals in & out of states. Through 2 months of coordination with GCMI, the delivery of 2,500 face shields was finally made to the agency. Nick gained communication and coordination/negotiation skills through this charitable partnership.
