On October 18th, 2026, the AYLUS Great Neck Branch gathered at Village Green Park from 9:30 to 10:30 am, picking up trash.
Due to some unexpected changes of activities, our mission changed from Halloween setup to picking up trash and keeping a nice environment of the park. Today, we picked up visible litter from the ground to help keep the environment clean. We walked around the area and collected trash that we could easily see. We focused on picking up noticeable pieces of litter, such as paper, plastic wrappers, and other waste. We made sure to dispose of the collected trash properly.
Since it is fall now, leaves are falling from the trees and covering parts of the ground. We picked up litter among the fallen leaves to help keep the area clean. Keeping the environment clean is especially important during the fall season, when leaves and litter can accumulate on the ground.
Because it’s pretty early in the morning, there was not a lot of people yet. Through this activity, we helped make the area cleaner and more pleasant for people who will come during the day. We helped clearing the environment and keeping the harmony of the park. Although it was a simple task, it reminded us that small actions can make a difference in protecting the environment.
